Adam Whiteman is a Chicago based attorney, producer, composer and record label owner.
His label, Big Chicago Records (www.bigchicago.com), is dedicated to the exploration of the Chicago music scene. Albums produced by Whiteman include: A Chicago Jazz Tour, A Chicago Blues Tour, Women Who Swing Chicago, Jump ‘n Jive Chicago, Irish Music in Chicago, The Chicago Music Scene, Vintage Chicago Blues and many more. His efforts have generated years of royalties for a broad range of musicians in the greater Chicago area. Big Chicago Records CDs are available at Chicago area museums, gift shops and airports.
It was through his album, “Hidden Treasures: Irish Music In Chicago” that Whiteman discovered the beauty and energy of Chicago’s Irish music scene. While licensing music for the album, he discovered Chief O’Neill’s tavern, befriended the owners, Brendan and Siobhan McKinney, and came to learn that Chief O’Neill was one of Chicago’s great unsung heroes.
According to Whiteman, “All my previous training, experience and interests came together in creating this show. My skills as an attorney were essential in researching the subject matter and writing about it in a cogent manner. My background in music was key in hearing the melodies of a foreign land and taking them to heart. Finally, my interest in psychology allowed me to feel the poignant story of Chief O’Neill and to realize it was a story that needed a dramatic setting.”
